The annual Flying Farmer 40 in remembrance of one of the top 5 sprint car drivers of all time,Tommy Hinnershitz of Oley,PA will pit Action Track USA’s current slate of SpeedSTR stars against a select group of USAC’s sprint car best as a $3000 payout for the winner looms large for all competitors heading to the Kutztown,PA high-banked oval.
Six USAC standouts are heading east for the Eastern Storm tour and some of the top names in open wheel racing are putting talents on the 1/4 mile clay oval in hopes of keeping track regulars chasing them to the checkered.
“The People’s Champ” Dave Darland, 2 time USAC Sprint Car champion Brady Bacon, “Sunshine” Tyler Courtney, “T-Mez” Thomas Meseraull,”KTJ” Kevin Thomas,Jr. and “The Bear” Chris Windom all will have a tough task to undertake as they take on Action Track USA’s top 2 career SpeedSTR feature winners, Billy Pauch,Jr. and Tim Buckwalter.
Matt Westfall, who virtually has driven almost everything on a dirt surface, will look to add to his impressive runs in hopes of putting career win # 2 on his resume’. Adding to this talented field are Steve Drevicki,winner of the USAC East main at Bedford Fair Speedway. former modified standout Tom Mayberry, TQ hotshoe Matt Janisch, multi-talented Stephen Nederostek, 410 sprint standout Steve Buckwalter, one of the hottest drivers in northeast modifieds Anthony Perrego, asphalt star turning to dirt racing Kevin Graver,Jr. and the always exciting Tim Iulg in the family numbered 56SR. Late model favorite Andy Haus has been in the mix this season and sprint driver Tyler Ross has 2 STR wins at Linda’s and has been a front runner during the 2018 season in all his open wheel endeavors. Billy Pauch,Sr. has contacted the Speedway Entertainment office to inform us of his intentions to compete in this event.
There is now an added bonus for all drivers in any class of racing on Wednesday night as the “Low Down and Dirty Challenge” has been issued. If any driver can win any of the 3 class main events and take one of the USAC Eastern Storm checkers they are guaranteed at least a $2000 bonus. This will be sending drivers to the 600 micros and All Star Slingshots looking for a ride to put them in victory lane in hopes of having an Eastern Storm win in the upcoming tour.
A few visits by the USAC stars in previous years had the late,great, Bryan Clauson finishing 2nd to Billy Pauch,Sr. in 2013 and Dave Darland finishing 16th in 2015 after an early race battle for the lead with eventual winner Mike Mahaney.
Both track regulars and USAC invaders have a lot on the line in the Flying Farmer 40. Whoever sits in victory lane will realize it was one hard fought battle on the speedway in honor of one of their own, Tommy Hinnershitz.
