As the awards banquet date of February 2,2019 grows closer, this will become a time to honor the talented racers for their 2018 efforts on the World Championship Slingshot tours and the Action Track USA legion of stars that have become fan favorites on the Kutztown,PA high banked oval.
With average car counts of 55 Hyper Chassis Wingless 600 Micros,32 All Star Slingshots,26 USAC All Pro SpeedSTR’s and 14 Junior Slingshots, the driving talent in these classes have earned the admiration of fans, crews, track officials and fellow drivers as they put their hot rods to the ragged edge in hopes of getting that elusive checkered flag or a top 3 podium finish.
For many of these drivers,it was hours of work in garages, with crew members and for some, just mom and dad getting things prepared for the next race on the schedule. The hard work and dedication pays off with top finishes in single races or the course of multi-race tours. For as much work that’s spent in the shop it still takes the driver to wheel and deal his way through the field for that hard earned finish.
In the SpeedSTR class, there a few drivers that have virtually hopped into anything with 4 tires, steering wheel and an engine and be successful.Multitasking has become a way of life for many of these drivers going from SpeedSTR’s to modifieds,to 305,360 and 410 sprints,to late models or even into a wingless 600 micro.Billy Pauch,Jr,Steve and Tim Buckwalter,Matt Janisch,Tyler Ross,Matt Westfall,Steve Drevicki and Briggs Danner are just a few of the drivers that have other racing interests.
Quite a few of the micro drivers have taken to the USAC East Sprint Series or the USAC Midget Series with some finding instant success.Eddie Strada,Alex Bright,Kyle Lick and Danny Buccafusca have other bigger car rides to hop into.
The Slingshots have become one of the biggest steppingstone classes with Joe Toth,Dakota Kohler,Dylan Hoch and Justin Thompson attracting attention in the sportsman modifieds and SpeedSTR’s classes.
The Junior racers are still virtually in the learn and grow process with Tyler Ulsh,Shelby McLaughlin and Aidan Donaldson all in the World Junior Great 8 with Shelby earning her second straight crown.
Rich Tobias and Doug Rose are proud to show off their best of the best with an awards banquet at one of eastern Pennsylvania’s most popular resorts,Bear Creek Resort in Macungie,PA.
The Speedway Entertainment / Action Track USA Awards Banquet is always an off season event that is penciled in by many of the competitors to attend for an incredibly honorable night.
